If you’ve emailed an invoice and itβs not showing in Law App under the correct file, the issue is usually due to incorrect tagging or an Outlook integration step being missed β even if the file number appears correct.
π What to Check
β Correct File Tag Format
-
Ensure the subject line contains the file tag in square brackets with exact spacing and formatting.
-
Example:
[ABC - 100777] -
The format must exactly match the file number and format used in Law App.
π Outlook Integration & Login
-
You must be logged into Outlook via Law App, and complete any multi-factor authentication.
-
Navigate to Documents > Save Emails, and sign in if prompted.
β³ Timing: Email Movement or Deletion
-
Do not move or delete the email immediately after sending.
-
Wait for the orange Law App flag to appear in the Categories column in Outlook.
-
β Flag present: Email has been saved to Law App.
-
β No flag: Email hasnβt saved yet. Moving it could prevent Law App from capturing it.
-
βοΈ Auto Save Feature
Law App can automatically scan and save sent emails with correct file tags.
Auto Save activates when you:
-
Open Documents > Save Emails
-
Click the Auto Save Emails button from your dashboard
It checks your Sent Items for tagged subject lines and saves matching emails to the correct file.
-
The email subject becomes the document title.
-
A successful save is shown by the orange Law App flag in Outlook.
π Tip: If Your Email Hasnβt Saved
-
Double-check the file tag formatting.
-
Confirm the file number exists in Law App.
If still missing, manually save the email:
-
In Outlook, click the Law App Email Save button (recommended β adds the orange flag), or
-
Go to Law App > Documents > Upload, and drag the message in manually (note: this method does not show the saved flag in Outlook).
