A timesheet entry records time spent on a matter so it can be billed or tracked. The video below shows how to add one; the summary underneath lists the same steps.
What is a timesheet entry?
A timesheet entry records the time a fee earner spends on a matter, along with a description of the work. Billable entries can be included on an invoice for that matter, and time can also be recorded as non-billable for tracking purposes.
How to add a timesheet entry
Adding a time entry follows these stages. Watch the video above for the exact screens; the steps below are the summary.
- Open the matter, or the timesheet, you want to record time against.
- Add a new time entry.
- Enter the details — the date, the time or units, a description of the work, and the fee earner or rate.
- Save the entry so it is recorded against the matter.
Common questions
Can I record non-billable time?
Yes. Time can be recorded as non-billable when you want to track effort without charging for it. Non-billable entries are tracked against the matter but are not billed.
How is recorded time billed?
Billable time recorded against a matter can be included on an invoice for that file. The amount is based on the time or units recorded and the applicable rate.
Can I add time entries in bulk?
Law App supports recording multiple time entries, so you are not limited to entering them one screen at a time. The video shows the entry process; contact support if you want guidance on faster bulk entry.
