A contact is any person or organisation you store in Law App — clients, other parties and suppliers. The video below shows how to add one; the summary underneath lists the same steps.
What is a contact in Law App?
A contact is a record of a person or organisation in Law App, such as a client, another party to a matter, or a supplier. Once a contact exists you can link them to matters and reuse their details, so you only enter their information once.
How to add a new contact
Adding a contact follows these stages. Watch the video above for the exact screens; the steps below are the summary.
- Open the contacts area in Law App.
- Choose to add a new contact.
- Enter the contact’s details — name, and contact information such as address, phone and email.
- Save the contact so it is available to link to matters.
Common questions
Can I link one contact to several matters?
Yes. A contact is stored once and can be linked to any number of matters, which keeps their details consistent across every file they appear on.
What is the difference between a contact and a client?
A contact is the underlying record of a person or organisation. A client is a contact who is engaged on a matter. The same contact can also appear in other roles, such as another party.
Can I edit a contact’s details later?
Yes. You can open a contact and update their details at any time, and the updated information is used wherever that contact is linked.
