If your firm regularly opens certain matter types as AML/CTF designated services — conveyancing, business sales, and so on — an admin can set Law App to flag them automatically, so the AML row and risk assessment are there from the very first save, without anyone having to remember to switch it on.
Setting up the auto-flag
- Go to Settings > Options > Firm-Wide.
- Find the setting “AML designated-service auto-flag”.
- Enter the matter type ids you want auto-flagged, separated by commas. Add a colon and a service type to preset that too — for example
16:RealProperty,17:BusinessTransaction.
What happens when a new file is opened
When a new file is opened on one of those matter types, “Is this a designated service?” is already set to Yes (and the service type set too, if you gave one), so the AML row and risk assessment are there from the start — nobody has to remember to flag it manually.
The setting only applies when a file is opened. It doesn’t change existing files, and it doesn’t re-run if a file’s matter type is edited later. Staff can still change the designated-service answer on the file if a particular matter turns out not to need it.
