🔍 Search inside your documents New
You can now search the words inside documents, not just their names, across Word files, PDFs, saved emails and their attachments. On a file’s Documents tab, switch the search box from Names to Contents. Matching words are highlighted and clicking a result opens the document.
The Documents page has a Search contents button that searches every file at once, and Quick Find (Ctrl+K) now includes documents too. Type /here to search only the file you are on, /docs for document text only, or ext:pdf to narrow to a file type. Lawrence can also answer “which document mentions X”.
Spelling does not have to be exact, and a phrase in quotes matches exactly. Trash, templates and confidential files you cannot access never appear in results. New documents are searchable within about fifteen minutes of being saved.
🔒 Document locking New
Documents open for editing now show a lock icon and cannot be edited in place, moved or trashed by anyone else. Copy, download, preview, share and View Versions still work.
If Word or Excel crashes and leaves a document locked, right-click it and choose Unlock. You will be asked to confirm first, because unlocking a document someone still has open could let a later save overwrite their changes.
✅ Document Reviews: take over when someone is away Improved
A new Take over button in the review panel lets you step into the place of the sender or the reviewer, with an optional note. The review thread records who took over and from whom. If the review had already started, it goes back to Awaiting review for you to start fresh. Nobody is notified automatically yet, so let the person know if you can.
📄 Merge to PDF and Word preview Improved
When you tick several documents and choose Merge to PDF, the Document Order list now follows the order you ticked them. Attach to email uses the same order for its attachments, and you can still drag rows to reorder before merging.
Previewing a Word document created outside Word, such as a report exported from Law App, no longer fails with a server error.

A more detailed permission system is on its way, which will give you full customisable control over what areas of the program your staff have access to. You will be able to invite staff by email with their access level set up front, and manage everyone from one Employees page.
