Why do I get a message or error when I first try to edit a Word document from Law App

This message only appears the very first time you use Law App with Microsoft Word on a new computer or profile. It’s part of Microsoft’s security design and is asking for permission to allow Law App to interact with Word via its secure API.

To avoid future interruptions:

✅ The first time this appears:

Click “Yes” to allow Law App to integrate with Word.

Tick “Always allow” so it remembers your choice for future use.

This step enables Law App to:

Create editable versions of documents

Track document changes and versions

Save documents back to Law App automatically

🛠 If you accidentally clicked “No” or the message keeps appearing:

Go to Word > File > Options > Trust Center

Click Trust Center Settings and review the following:

  • Add-ins: Ensure external integrations are allowed.
  • Macro Settings: Tick “Trust access to the VBA project object model.”
  • Protected View: Untick the options for files from the internet or unsafe locations.

Under Trusted Locations, you can add Law App’s storage path or domain if known, and tick “Subfolders are also trusted.”

This message is a Microsoft Word prompt, not a Law App error. It is a one-time trust request unless blocked or disabled by your IT security settings.
