What Should I Do If Changes to a Document Don’t Save Properly?

In Law App, unsaved document changes are extremely rare. The platform is designed to maintain document integrity — even through network dropouts, closed sessions, or hardware disconnections.

If it looks like your edits haven’t saved, it’s almost never a data loss issue — it’s usually a matter of the document still being open or needing a quick refresh.

🛡️ What You Can Expect from Law App

  • Changes are preserved when you exit Word and confirm Save
  • If your connection drops, Word will still prompt you to save — and those edits are captured
  • Law App automatically reconnects to the document once you’re back online
  • No document is ever lost without prompt — you’re always given a chance to save or recover

🔍 What to Check If You Don’t See Your Changes

  1. Is the document still open in another Word session or tab?
This is the most common reason.
Look for a red lock icon in Law App — this indicates the file is still open elsewhere and cannot be saved until it’s closed.
  2. Have you refreshed Law App?
Press F5 to update your view and ensure you’re seeing the latest version.
  3. Try re-opening the file
Closing and reopening the document often clears display lag or session cache.
  4. Still unsure?
Download the file to confirm the content, and re-upload if needed.

💡 Good to Know

  • Clicking “Save” in Word when exiting ensures your changes are captured
  • Law App does not silently discard edits — if something didn’t save, it will be visible or recoverable
  • Even during outages, edits are retained locally until they can be committed to the system
