✅ Law App Letterhead Format
To ensure your firm’s letterhead integrates seamlessly with Law App’s document generation system, it’s essential that your design adheres to the formatting standards outlined below. Following these guidelines ensures your letterhead displays correctly across all documents generated within Law App.
✅ Format Requirements
- Header and Footer Only:
The entire letterhead—including logos, firm details, and page numbers—must be placed strictly within the Header and Footer areas of the Microsoft Word document. Content placed in the body of the page may interfere with document formatting and merge fields. - File Format:
Submit the letterhead in Microsoft Word (.docx) format only. Older formats (.doc) or PDFs are not compatible with our document automation tools. - Text Boxes Allowed:
You may use text boxes to position content within the header and footer. This is useful for multi-column layouts, aligning contact information, or mirroring elements between the top and bottom margins. - No Tables in Layout:
Do not use tables in the header or footer design. Tables may cause layout instability or alignment issues when merged with client-facing documents. - Page Numbering Tools:
If your layout includes page numbers, please use Microsoft Word’s built-in page numbering tools. These work reliably with our templating system and ensure consistency across multi-page documents. - Merge Fields:
If your letterhead includes any merge fields (such as the firm name, reference number, or ABN), please clearly indicate what each merge field is and where it appears. This helps us ensure those fields are populated dynamically during document generation.
✅ Logo and Images
- Logo Format:
Insert your logo as a PNG image, ideally with a transparent background. This helps it blend naturally with the page background and avoids unwanted white or coloured boxes. - Embed Images:
All images must be embedded directly into the Word file. Please do not link to external files or image sources, as these will not appear correctly when the document is merged or exported to PDF. - Image Review:
Our team will inspect all images for compatibility and quality. If any image appears pixelated, distorted, or incompatible with the formatting engine, we may replace or request a revised version.
❌ Restrictions
- No Hyperlinks:
Do not include hyperlinks within the letterhead. This includes email addresses, website links, or embedded URLs in logos or icons. Hyperlinks are stripped during processing and may disrupt formatting. - No Content Outside Header/Footer:
Absolutely no content should be placed in the main body of the Word document. Even if set to “appear like a header,” such content may interfere with merged document text or result in inconsistent page spacing.
📄 Layout Samples Required
To assist with implementation and verification, please provide:
- A sample letter addressed to a client
This should demonstrate how your letterhead appears when a standard client-facing letter is merged. It helps confirm layout, margins, and spacing. - A sample letter addressed to the other side
This showcases your firm’s presentation in external correspondence, ensuring formatting remains professional when addressing non-client recipients.
These samples allow us to confirm that your header and footer work correctly with real-world content and document templates.
